Hi guys,

Just got a question regarding my injector pump!

Its got this anyoying leak from the back off the unit where the pipes join into it, Tried tighting them all seem okay! but it still leaks.

It seems worse when the engine is running?

Is there anything i should be looking at im rather confused as there no visible sign where its coming from???

Is a new injector pump costly?

thanks.

Gday picko,

it hard to say were its leaking from, but from what you have said it sounds like the distributor head may be leaking were it mates up to the pump body, they are either "o"ringed or have a gasket that may need replacing, I doubt the pump will have to be replaced (depends on it condition), it may just need to be rebuilt. Its not a job to do yourself, take it to a diesel pump place.

MO anyway.

If it isn't the distributor head gasket or o-ring you may find that it is the delivery valves themselves that are leaking (delivery valves are the part that the injector pipes actually screw into) - these are replaced as part of a total pump overhaul.

To overhaul one of the Zexel pumps on the TD42's would run you around $1200 .... so compared to a fuel filter - yes ... quite expensive :)
