Longfields for cruiser (75) diffs

from what i've read, there is two types of diffs in a 75 series. the pre-90 ones that are identical to the 60/hilux ones, and the later ones that are a touch bigger. is this correct?
if so, this should mean that there will be no drama's fitting any sort of hilux cv into a 75 series? true or not?
am chasing this info as we'll be ordering a set of chromoly 27 splines from longfield this week if the lux ones will slot straight in.
also, anyone recommend someone in brisbane who can do custom length chromo axles (to suit a 75)???

Dunno about the CV's but get get bobby to do the axles
The inner axles should be the same length as a hilux any way

The later model (smaller diff) HZJ has larger CV's the older style is the smaller cv like the 60 series

A 27 spline Longfield has been fitted to a post 1990 75 series diff. Yes, no drama there. The axles are of different length between the pre and the post 1990 diffs. You can't fit Bobby Long's chromoly axles to a post 1990 diff, so his 30 spline CVs are out, unless he is willing to make the axles to custom lengths.
Drivers side axles:
Passenger side axles (1989 and older cruiser axles are the same length as 40 series):
Polyperformance in the States will make you 4340 chromoly custom axles but freight would be frightening.

They will need to custom axles if they get the longfeilds because long don't have 75 series on the shelf. Its a US company and are not common there.

well stupid me forgot we had a set of both cruiser axles, and hilux axles (all with cv's) lying around. compared them this arvo, and the cv's were identical, but the axles were different.
i guess this means that the hilux 27 spline cv's will bolt straight in, and i'm also guessing that cause the cv's are the same, it means the cruiser diff is an earlier one, and hence we should be able to order the 40 series spec ones from longfield and they should fit straight in?

Yes, for the earlier (pre 1990) 75 series diffs, 40 series axles and CVs should fit straight in. If you gonna order them all the way from the States, why not go the 30 spline units?

now that i know we can bolt in the 40 series spec axles, we probably will go with the 30 spline ones

antt, make sure you have the older low pinion diff before ordering the Longs. The newer ones (post 90) have high pinion diff centres.

diff center doesnt make any differance to axles, the axle low pinion and high both use 30 spline axles

My point is high pinion diffs use different axle lengths than 75 series low pinion diffs (see pics above) so it matters if antt is buying 40 series CV and axles from Longfield. If his diff is the high pinion type, those axles aren't gonna fit
