G'day all,
I want to turbo a sd33 and have read as much up on it as i can, most of my questions have been answerd but there is one that still remains
What to do with reguards to the oil supply, drain bungs? from what I've seen there are specific bungs on the sd33t block but i can't find them on the sd33, can it be drilled and tapped, or can it be plumbed throught the vacum pump oil supply? has anyone delt with this before?

let you know in a week or so,cos thats what i am doing!!
oil supply .use t from vacum pump.
oil drain, prehaps t into vacum drain? may try this,BUT i think would be better to drain directly into sump, as vacum drain seems to go into oil way before going into sump, and not sure if it will cope with extra oil??
(any thoughts people)
easy to do sump anyway, but myself will PUNCH hole in then weld drain pipe outlet thingy on to sump.wont drill as swarf will go into sump, and then will have to take off..

do you need to supply pressure, or does the turbo pump the oil itself?
if it doesn't welding in a bung on the sump won't do any good.....

oil supply for turbo bearings needs to be under pressure.so t off from vacum oil supply..
oil from turbo needs to feed directly into sump, via large dia pipe.its not under pressure then ,but is airiated(like the head on your beer, well kind of)..to do this nissan have large hole in side of block with pipe feeding return into sump.you need to copy this..BUT ITS IS MUCH EASIER TO MAKE RETURN DIRECTLY INTO SUMP, THAN BY DRILLING INTO BLOCK!!
just make sure return pipe is ABOVE oil line, this ensures oil can escape from turbo easily,if it cant may blow out oil seals in turbo,NOT GOOD!!

I like the idea of a "T" peice on the vacum pump, nice and easy, but will it be able to maintain the needed pressure and supply enough vacum for brakes?

you dont t the vacum.you t the oil supply..the vacum pump is run off the alternator, t'ing into oil supply wont effect the brakes...??!!

tee oil feed to vac pump for supplyto turbo will not afect vac pump unless it is badly worn. weld fitting into sump for return (note it has to b above oil level and at least 16mm in dia) as if there is any restriction to flow the oil could be forst bast seals in turbo lots of smoke
