hey guys,

as some might have seen here:

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modul ... highlight=

i had one fo the wires outta the back of the plug break off, and i replaced it with a caravn style plug. im putting this here in the hope that someone might know, cos i didnt get much back from the toher thread.

- the winch works fine when wired with the remote

- the winch works fine when wired trhough the power window switch

- the winch does not work fine through the remote when both are wired together, the power window switch inside the car works, but all i get from the remote is the clicking of the solenoids.

- heres how i have it wired together, sorry for it being so dodgy hopefully you guys get it

so i have the remote wired up as the normal way, and then have wired the switch into the back of the female plug on the control box. This works a treat with the power window switch, but when the remote is plugged in it doesnt work, only the solenoids click but no winch action, and the switch inside the cab still works... :? i thought that having them running inline would have worked, is there something im missing??? i took it all apart today again to check that i had all the correct wires joined with one another, and i did, but yes still the same thing, they both work fine by themselves, but not together...

whats the deal???

Dean

It has to be a wiring error

I have the system wired up with in dash and remote like you

The power window switch could be a make-before-break switch which could cause issues - Disconnect the power window switch and have the remote plugged in
then short the incab switch wires to see if the winch runs - if so the switch is the issue

thanks ado, yeh i already thought it must be the switch, because theres 5 wires coming from the switch green/black/red/black/blue, and all im running at the moment is the green/red/blue, as an on/off/on switch, i think maybe there is a problem there, ill grab a simple, normal rocker switch on/off/on, and see how i go with that, thanks heaps for the help though ado

just thought that id put up today, that i rewired the winch up to use the hand controller as well as an in cab switch. instead of running the power window switch as previous and having a few problems, im simply running a new on/off/on switch into the cab inline with the plug for the hand controller and everything is working fine and dandy :D now i can control the winch operation from inside the car with the flick of a switch, but also still use the hand controller if needed  im happy

What happens if a small person plays with the switch ? or do you have an isolator ?

no isolator, no little poeple :D nah i only have the winch connected to the battery when im using it, should eliminate the risk, because most little people shouldnt be around when winching i rekon, ;) i also only run the winch connected to the battery when using it becuase iv see first hand when someone in a carpark walks up with a hand controller and crushes a car in half  not keen on that happening

Glad you got it sorted mate

on Zutes point - it's easy to interupt the power to the controller swiches..,

I have a hydraulic winch and I've done the above so while i'm driving I don't accidentally winch my roobar thru my fairlead
