Re-Bore On 2LT

Planning a rebuild on my 2LT motor and have a question...
Can I increase the cc capacity by boring out the cylinders from present 2446cc? What the max cc?
Do I need any special pistons if this I can do this?
Do I need to rpalce the big ends or camshaft?

You do increase the capacity by boring the cylinders u should replace the main and big end bearings as the engine will need to be completly stripped
oversize pistons are required u should get jap quality or u will be pullin it down again to replace them.

I put new rings and stuff in mine a few weeks back. It had been bored out 40 thou or 1mm for those metric persons. Had ovversize pistons in it and oversize rings... No idea waht the max capacity is though...

biggest oversize pistons you can get are .040"/1.00mm oversize. this brings you capacity up about 1/90 (assuming the bore is about 90mm, not sure of the actual number) so capacity goes to 2473cc ie big enough for you to call it a 2.5 litre but not really a performance enhancing capacity increase. you can't bore any bigger than that because diesels need a lot of cylinder wall rigidity. if you can get 1mm undersize big end bearings it might be possible to stroke it (1mm crank regrind = 2mm extra stroke), you would have to have 1mm plus a bit to maintain compression ratio machined off the top of your pistons, and assuming the stroke is about 90mm, your capacity would go up 2/90 of 2473cc = 55cc so your total capacity would go to 2528cc which would make a bit of difference - 82cc or about 3.5%, you're looking at about $3000 worth of machine work though by the time you get the crank ground and the pistons trimmed, not worth it in my opinion when you can achieve the same result for a lot less by fitting a better turbo and intercooling.
