Temperature Guage

The temp guage in my Zuk doesn't work anymore. I was thinking maybe I should just replace it rather than fix it (actually not sure how to fix it) anyway was looking at aftermarket ones and they are marked with degrees Celsius whereas the Zuk is just a cool to hot style. So if I go with an aftermarket one what temperature range should I be getting?

most aussie thermostats are 82 or 88*C

so you need this to be the normal point

I know this will sound silly, but first step might be to check that there is actually coolant in the system :) if it isn't there, your temp guage won't work, and pretty soon, neither will your engine

don't worry there is coolant and the water pump is working and so is the thermostat just not the guage

could be the sender, that screws into the water jacket, usually in the thermo housing.
or even a loose, rusty terminal on the sender.

mine falls off occassionaly.
