Hey

I pulled my front driveshaft out of my 80 to see if when i put a part time kit in it will fix all my viberation and noise problems after lifting it and it will, but I found it strange that with the front shaft out I have no drive unless i engadge my centre diff lock. It simply sends all the power to the front and none to the rear....

Anyone ever done this also???

Is it normal???

Also is it bad to drive for a while with my front shaft out and my centre diff lock engaged untill i get my part time kit?

Its a 93 GXL with the switch on the dash...

Cheers Ryan

Its normal for it to do that...

and it wont hurt it to drive it with the centre diff lock on and the front shaft out..

the transfer case is like another open centre diff, it sends drive to the tailshaft with least resistance, when it is locked it sends equal drive to front and rear shafts. You may not notice as much of a difference in economy as you are still turning the front axles and centre, free whell hubs isolate this.
