rotary conversion

i was talking to a guy the other day and he reckon he put a rotary engine in a serria have u heard of this before and are there kits for it?

Yeh, A mates got one in a ute in WA. Perth. Not sure what he has used as components.

it was a old guy he said he sold it a while ago it was a 92 serria he said. i am not sure of his name. have u been in esperance before

I've been down there but not for a while. This rotary is in a 1L ute as far as i know.

The guy i know is up in the mines now, only comes down every two weeks.

Must be another one running around

ive seen a couple and they go hard! The ones i saw were running the 13B from an RX7 and the RX7 gearbox as well.

I've seen a few too. But they were useless, as they kept lunching drive train components all the time.

My 2 fav things are 4wds and rota's, so after years of owning many of each i decided to combine the 2 for competition 4wding.

today we had to make an exhaust from some bits i picked up, freebees!
the extractors were huge and they didn't fit between the block and the 6 port diaphrams so we had to do a bit of cutting and shutting, then mate it all up to my bling muffler. still have to do bracket to hold the rear of the system, so that the rear driveshaft doesn't hit the cannon when the suspension flexes upward on that side.

update as of today,

i am half way through wiring up the motor and computer, it is fun trying to get your head around wiring a vehicle from scratch, but it's all pretty simple.
I am so close to finishing it, but now i'm working again so have alot less time to do it. Bitter sweet!

Probably start it up on the weekend. Can't wait to hear the rotary purr, especially with my home made exhaust, dual 2" extractors 3" pipe the rest of the way through a (free) bling cannon muffler.

Apart from that, hook the air locker up. fit and gas the airshox, bolt the transfer back in place screw the pannels back on and wheel it!

P.S. the panels are not staying, nor the colour, they are just on there at the moment to get some measurements off.
I assume for Legends Class i still have to have it resembling some sort of factory 4wd?

got the thing finished finally, only a few hours before we were off to compete in the final round of the World Extreme Rockcrawling championships.

here are some pictures, i let my girlfriend drive in this comp and i was the spotter / navigator. 2nd time ever driven this buggy and we came 3rd place in the Pro Modified class.
