Air flow replaced with MAP sensor

Stupid question, is it possible to replace the air-flow meter with a map sensor from a later vit 1.6 engine? will the ECU recognise this change? at the moment do not want to run a new aftermarket ECU if i do not have to. removing airflow meter will help when installing my new sc.

There's no way known you'd just be able to swap a MAP for a MAF sensor, reprogramming would be needed for sure.
SC = supercharger?

yes sc is supercharger

And you're not planning on having to install an aftermarket ECU even after bolting that on?

no way map uses a 0 - 5 volts signle maf sencer uses ohms signle

.as for no aftermarket ecu. might get away with only a riseing ratregltor if only running 6psi

going to try without aftermarket ecu, only using low boost. if need ecu going for a megasquirt.

thought that might be the case, will use MAF to start and then convert to MAP (on board megasquirt) if needed

you can run without a maf with a retune but the map is mandatory for smooth running and load changes. mafs are highly restrictive and not at all accurate. i toook the maf off my chev and had it retuned to suit. swapping to other units from different models can be quite successful - chip torque have worked wonders esp with nissans. it is not possible to swap a maf for a map, however you should have a map as well.
