f6a vs 1.6L vitara conversion

i have a one litre zook, the gearbox has just shat its self and i cant be fucked fixing it as its only a 4 speed.
whats a easy engine gearbox conversion to do for the bit more power and that extra gear !!

f6a 660cc turbo ??
or
vitara 1.6L ??

f6a - the f6a sounds like a good conversion to me and what i have heard they are a pretty gutsy 3cyl turbo motor.
the only problem with this conversion is locating motor and box, i have found a f6a front cut but unfortunitly its in a fwd suzuki work mate (mighty boy) so if i did buy this cut i would still be up for another gearbox to suit and clutch and whatever else goes with it.

and does anyone know whether the dash out of this would suit a sierra ?

is there another gear box that will fit onto the f6a that will still be easy to put into my 1L suzuki ? i have heard something about the 1.3 5speed fitting is this true ?

vs

1.6 vitara
the 1.6 inj vitara motor also is supposed to be a good way to go but as i dont have a hell of alot of money to spend im not sure whether it would be a good option. i have been quoted for this motor and box package

starter - $95
motor - $1650
comp - $950
gearbox - $550
adapt kit - $300
tail shaft - $125
sierra fly - $50
TOTAL ---------------$3720
which is worth more then what i paid for my car.
what are the benifits out of this motor?
how hard is the conversion ?
and can i get it cheaper then that ?

i dont really have a hell of alot of time to play with as i use my sierra to drive me to work everyday and i really need a reliable motor that is good on juice but at the same to fun to have a muck around with on the weekends.

do a search under Gregs buildup as he has done the conversion. His thread has lots of detail and will answer your questions in one thread with pics too I believe

just read that thanks
an just another question
how does this motor compare to a 1L off road ??
this just seems odd to me as i have only ever done engine conversions to a bigger motor ?

its a little more work than an F6A transplant, but if you can get a 1.6EFI motor and sierra 5sp you will be wrapped with the performance.

The F6A is way cool. Quite zippy, as to the off road abilities Greg's seems to do very well with the right gearing.

However as to getting the engine swap signed off by an engineer, thats another issue.

If you plan on getting the car legal (signed off by an engineer) talk to them first and see if it can be done.

im not really to concerned with how hard this will be
just more concerned about what the finished product will be like
fuel econamy ?
performance ?
the fun factor ?
and the killer (COST $$$$$$)

you should be concerned. Life is a bitch, there is no reason to drive one as well. As Sierrajim says, get an engineer to ride tag. Thats if you want to drive it on the road of course!

Having driven a 1.6 equipped Zuk that other than a 4.16 geared T/case I ran 32's 33's and 35's (that were about a true 33) and it worked OK on road and off .. I kept the same exhaust etc

I would hazard a guess that a 660 is going to need some extra $$ dropped on gearing to be truly useful off road (this is purely speculation as I have never driven one )
