with 235/75 muds wat fuel ecconomy should i get my serria has done 175000km. i got extractors and it isn't lifted
I used to get about 250km out of a tank with 30's on. But its done about 230000km and i went to re-build it last week and we took the head off, the bit where the piston go's up and down had bad grooves in it So i brought a new motor for it. that the reason for it drinking more oil than petrol!

Gettin 10.5L / 100km Approx out of mine. Spoa,calmini gears, 31 MTR's or 32 Swampers, over200,000km on the clock, 1.3L carby extractors and exhaust.

it seems like you know very little about this sort of thing so your probably not helping by fidling with things yourself.
If you take it to a good mechanic and tell him your not getting great economy, get him to make sure all your things such as mixture, timeing, good quality oil, the plugs are gapped right, the leads are in good condition.
try running a high flow air filter. (fit this before your tune up.) If your really keen pay someone lots to get your car dyno tuned.
that there isnt any extra drag comeing from anywhere such as overtight wheelbearings. brakes fowling. your tyres are pumped up correctly. 20 psi is too low any fuel economy will suffer dramaticly.
Wheel alighnment and tyre balance is correct? ensure your carby isnt full of junk. change fuel filters also get a compression test to check that you are getting the best from your engine.
If you do all this and your still not happy with economy then you will need to change your driving style. remember your tyres are 10% bigger so are traveling 10 percent further then the odometer is telling you.
to do all this its gonna cost a bit. if your engine has bad compression itll probbably cost about $500 to repair but most mechanics will want to do a full reco. so maybe upwards of $2000. Tune up, checking and replacing everything maybe 300-400 dollars if your carby is juncked up and needs a reco thats another $250-350
you mentioned your getting less economy in 5th gear. fuel economy in suzukis tends to decline after about 90kmh anything over 95kmh and fuel consumption becomes more obvious. if your putting it into 5th gear at say 60kmh then you will probabbly be laboring the engine and fuel economy will decrease.

I have better power with the the premium and one of these days I will figure the true odo readings as with 30" BFG muddies its certainly speed wise well out so I use the gps to get a fair idea for speed....(as you already know

have any of you people considered the fact that when you change the size of your tires it is going to completely change the reading your odometer reads.I used to get 400km out of my tank with 31s. Now with the 34s it is down to about 250 - 280km
my speedo reads 80 kph at 100kph, so if i do 100 k's, my odo only thinks i did 80. So if i travel 400km, my odo is going to read 320. And that is only rough estimate with 31's. And you are running 34's. Did this not occur to you?
Not trying to put the cat amongst the pidgeons, but has everyone done the speedo correction to cater for the larger tyre size??

Tyre size doesn make that much difference wHen corrected on larger vehicles, maybe the extra weight/rolling resistance would effect Zooks a bit more, but you really shouldnt see much difference on corrected distance.

My reply is Tyre size corrected. From memory a 31 is 116% of a std tyre, so to correct,multiply your odo by 1.16, same as calculating your speed, multiply your speedo readying by 1.16

As for correct speed and kms, all are going to vary somewhat. I use the GPS for speed and distance and one day I will document it so I have a better understanding of Fuel Economy.. But I think we are all agreed that with head wind bush bashing and the like there aint no such thing as fuel economy.
For the tech minded some one should indicate to all newbs (thats me included)
how one derives on fuel economy and also adjust for sizes of tyres rims and odo and speed variances and place this in the Sticky Sections of each vehicle section in this BBS..... Its ok I can handle the critisim.......

Consumption is measured in litres per 100 km, so to work out consumption, divide the litres of fuel used by the KM traveled, then multiply it by 100. That will give you the litres per 100km.
Pretty sure that ages ago (in the dim dark days) Greg posted up a heap of conversion charts for different tyres and gearing options to explain speedo, tyre oversize ratio etc. Might be in the sticky, not sure. Will try to find the charts, as i did have them on my old laptop at one stage.
