can it be done with a 2inch boddy and a 2 inch suspension lift and will the 2.8tdi spin them

Yes, it's been done, yes the 2.8 will spin them, but I think it may struggle a little - primarily at highway speeds. I can't imagine you WOULDN'T want crawler gears with them.
Personally, I'd try to borrow some 35s before buying any.

well how much power can u gain on the 2.8 say with a snorkel 3.5i exaust and a power chip or would it be better to go for the 3.5l v6

I don't know dyno figures, but I know a bloke who had a Gen 1 with commodore V6 under the bonnet. He lined up on a beach alongside a Gen 2 wagon with a "tuned" 2.8 itd. From a standing start, the V6 couldn't keep up with the diesel - the diesel just kept pulling away.
I don't know the mods to the diesel - I guess it was more fuel and more boost, and probably exhaust mods. There's no electronics, so a chip isn't an option.
Of course, the 2.8 uses the same block as the 3.2 DiD - a drop in 121kW/373 Nm.
If you intend to use it for touring I'd recommend the diesel - for better range.

Yes anything with a 2.8 TDI or 3.5 V6 will fit 35"s with a 2" body lift & 2" suspension lift. It's been done numerous times.
These models have a 35mm factory body lift over the earlier 3.0 V6's.
The 2.8 TDI will turn 35"s but may struggle at times even though they have 4.90 diffs (there is no higher option). Standard power is 92Kw & 292Nm but that can be raised by upping the boost a bit from the factory 12-13psi to around 15psi. Snorkel and 2.5" exhaust will also help but it won't produce miracles but a noticeable improvement.
The 3.5 V6 will turn 35"s all day especially a 5sp and you can always change to the diesels 4.90 diffs up from the standard 4.636 diffs if you plan to run this size all the time. Standard power out of 3.5 V6 SOHC is 140Kw & 303Nm the earler DOHC has 153Kw & 300Nm.

I ran 35's for some time on my shorty NL. I has 2" body and 2" suspension lift. Gearing went out the window. I was running stock diff ratios in a 3.5L V6. I thought about changing but it wsa far easier and cheaper to drop back to 33's and was far happier with the smaller rubber.

why did the loder motor have mor kw than the new dohc block for only a mild increase in torque and wich models came with these

I don't think they're available for the larger rear diff in the 2.8?

Thats right Scott, 5.29's are not available for the front 8" high pinion diff nor for the 9.5" rear. Only options are 4.636 & 4.90's.

i thought i had the 9.5 rear and 8 front????
i definately have the 5.29s tho...
how can i find out what size the diffs are??

For the rear diff, what size are the D/shaft bolts, 10mm or 12mm.
How many bolts hold your diff head to the housing.
What size engine, 2.5 or 2.8

i know i got the 2.5 and its the limited edition with factory locker if that helps??
car isnt with me atm, but when i can il check the size of the bolts etc..

I can tell you now if you have a Gen 2 2.5 TDI and super select you will have the 7.25" high pinion front diff and the 9" rear diff their the only configuration for 5.29's for a Gen 2.
