ya got2 b tuff if u gunna b dumb!!
When I blew an engine up in darwin the mechanic suggested they fit a 202 to my 90model ln106, I laughed in his face.
Commo V6's are very common and cheap these days though. 83Lux decided on some sort of toyota 4cyl for his though.

yeah would like to but its in the realms of complecated for my mechanical genies like me . ive hear that to get a good job done its in the area of $10000 inc motor and box . i like the idea but it needs to be simple cause it will be me doing as much as ican my self .
but good call on the choice 5

when i was looking around to buy mine i saw a couple and drove one just to see how it went, wasnt too bad although not sure how it would go offroad. There aint a lot of room lengthwise in the engine bay once this sucker is in.jugger wrote:kewl any body know anybody that has put a 202 in a lux it would be interesting as theres only a few thousad sitting around
come on keep it in the family. you can find plenty of wrecked cressidas that will have a 7M-GE in there and you can just use the whole loom. they are great motor with plenty of torque. and complete 1G-GTE engines with wiring can be bought from an importer for no more than 1500. supercharged is the same price. be different and keep it toyota mate
I agree with Hokey. Any of these engines would be killer. Just to throw a spanner in the works though, have you thought about a 1UZ-FE? 6 bolt mains, quad-cam, 185kw as standard! Plenty of people have done the conversion and I havent heard of anyone not loving it.hokey wrote:5M-E, 7M-GE, 22RE. an M engine would go pretty well. 1G-GZE perhaps?
Maybe shoot TWISTY_TOY94 a PM. He's done it to his 4Runner.

1UZ-FE might be a bit complicated. to be contrary to what i just said if people want V8 power and low down i don't know why they waste time on these engines. get a 350 and it will piss all over one of these. 1UZ-FE's are quite cheap though. and have bulletproof bottom ends and we all know what they are good for
Have a look at www.v6conversions.com.au they do a good kit, we put one of there kits into my mates rodeo a couple of years ago. They were very helpfull. Why dont you look at putting a toyota V8 in aswell?
Isnt he in QLD? I didnt think it was possible to get a 350 engineered up there? Lexus engines are cheap, powerful and less heavy than the chev. Plus they can be engineered.hokey wrote:1UZ-FE might be a bit complicated. to be contrary to what i just said if people want V8 power and low down i don't know why they waste time on these engines. get a 350 and it will piss all over one of these. 1UZ-FE's are quite cheap though. and have bulletproof bottom ends and we all know what they are good for
I dont know this for sure, just what I heard.

Twisted by Design
The Lexus V8 would be my pick....but I'm a bit Bias......They are a awesome engine, and the conversion is not complicated at all....I pulled mine off for just over $6000....but the more you can do yourself, the cheaper it'll be.....I paid $2000 just to have the the motor/gearbox mounted....which could have been done for half that.hokey wrote:they just don't have the torque an low down that only american V8's can provide. but yes probably to big capacity wise to be engineered. M engines would be great in there.
As for the torque down low, yeah, fair enough, the 1UZ reaches peak torque at like 5500rpm....but it still has more than double what the old donk used to have down low, so it is by no means a problem at all.
Compliance in QLD is a piece if cake too!! I couldn't believe how easy it was....A 15min inspection and $80 later and you are all legit!!
