Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Its proving a bugger to get off. My big hydraulic puller doesnt want to touch it, is there a trick? its the 3 hole flange that goes on the rubber mount. - 95 disco.

Anthony at British 4WD in Bayswater had trouble when he did my diff pinion seal. Apparently they corrode in there and almost weld themselves together. Hes had ones that broke the puller and still wouldn't co-operate....You could try hitting it with the oxy and see if some heat does the trick. If you do get it apart, use plenty of anti-seize when you reassemble. Good Luck & Cheers Chris.

thats the type with the machined insert that sticks out in the middle (and locates in the bush in the end of the driveshaft), correct? Is that the part you are trying to remove, or have you removed that already and undone the big nut behind it which actually holds the flange on?

A slide hammer is probably the best way to remove the 'locating pin' (no idea what its proper name is!), and a lot of crc.... Weld a bolt which will screw into the end of it (there is a threaded hole in it) onto something that will screw onto the slide hammer, and bash away. It will take a few hits, up to 20 or 30 sometimes, but once it starts to move, it will come out fairly easy from then....

If you already have that piece out, and have undone the nut, then I don't know....... They aren't usually stuck in very hard, beyond a puller i don't know what you'd try...
