Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I've had the steering box out of 'runner (non PS) to "reco" it for RWC, gone to do up the tie rod end of the panhard rod, and the pin that runs into the rod end is spinning before its tight enough to get the split pin in... How do I hold it to get a couple more turns out of it?? I can't get at the top of it, and by pushing the rubber seal thing up, I can't grip the shaft...

any ideas? Are they even supposed to turn?? Can you access the top of the pin??

Try using a bar to lever the tierod up into the taper while you do the nut up.

clamp it down somehow. If you ably lotsa pressure pushing the pin into the tappered hole it should grip.

buzz it down with a rattle gun..usually works

cheers folks, took a mattock to get it out, off to the shed to find something big and ugly to put it back in with

and buggger me if it wasn't the mattock that got it back in!! Levered it up using the mattock, which squashed it all together and its all good.

I know its done, but use a floor jack to jack it up into the taper.

Hahaha mattocks are very handy, I used 1 between my diff and steering rod to straighten it, worked a treat
