Flywheel Alignment

Replacing my flywheel as ring gear is shot (replacing starter as well, don't worry).

Haynes workshop Manual says I need to mark the flywheel upon removal, so I can line it up on refit.

What is there to line up ? Besides bolt holes??

Besides, the replacement flywheel doesn't have an alignment mark marked on in, and if so will be somewhere else.

Anyone know what there is to line up?

thanx.

I think it's a standard practice thing for anything which rotates - mark it when you pull it off, so it goes back on the same way.

I don't think it will matter which way you put the replacement flywheel, particularly since you had the new one balanced, but not shaved. Didn't you?

Cheers,

Scott

If you're worried, set up a dial gauge to make sure shes all running true.

I'm pretty sure you'll find it only goes on one way due to the bolt holes being offset...
