Hi all,
I am a pajero owner, and am looking at possibly buying a patrol.
I have found a 1998 patrol, it's the current shape i think. 2.8 turbo diesel, which has done around 220 000. they are asking $16 990.
Is this an ok price for this car? What should I look out for?
Any help would be great!

take it for a test drive see what you think of the power first.
Price is average for one of them.
search for other threads on them, they arent rocket ships..

What Pajero? Why you want to change?
Pajs are good tourers, get you most anywhere you need to go camping, fishing, sightseeing, etc.
Patrols only needed if you want huge lift and big tires, which make them illegal anyway. Not that that stops most of us ...

It's not actually for me, but my other half. I'm keeping the old Paj. I haven't had any probs following Patrols or cruisers whereever they go. I'm sure they are more capable than mine, but I haven't been anywhere yet that has led me to wish I had a better 4wd.
My other half is gonna start Family Day care, and she needs a 7 seater. i reckon she might as well get a 4wd instead of a van
I have done some reading though, and have found that the 2.8L isn't mush good anyways, so might look elsewhere.

Does she need a 4wd?
You may find life easier with a VW Transporter bus or similar. Cheaper to run as well as insure, and tires etc.

Everyone has thei own reasons why...
Seems a bit exxy
A mate bought a 2003 GU 3.0LTR with around 60,000kms on the clock for about $24,000 give or take a bit.
The 2.8LTRs are a strong motor but a bit sluggish and use a bit more fuel. But I'm sure there's mods that could be done to improve both

And with Diesel costing aroung $1.40 per litre.
Id go a GU 4.5L on gas anyday.

I agree with this. It would be better financially to get a 2wd people mover.
