I've been buggering around with the rear window (86 runner) and at the moment I have a wiring debarcle I need help with.

I've done away with the relay for the moment, what I need is a switch that will take 4 wires.

1)earth
2)+ ve
3)motor wire 1
4)motor wire 2

to make the motor go up, 1 and 3 get connected as does 2 and 4
to make the motor go down, 1 and 4 get connected as does 2 and 3

I have a switch with an unknown history that we've wired up as above, but it kills the amps on the other side of it, meaning the motor get the correct volts, but no amps so it does nothing....

What the hell is going on. My auto elec skills are limited, but more than my a-e knowledge :D

You use 2 changeover relays BUT you musnt forget the safety switches(i.e. on the locks so the window doesnt move when the tailgate is open).

I am not sure if it gets earthed thru the door lock switch on the tailgate or not.

ASSUMING That the door locks DO switch earth:

RELAY 1
30 Wire to one wire of the motor.
85 Goes to the door lock
86 Battery supply or accessory supply
87 Battery supply
87a Earth

Relay 2
Same as above but 30 goes to the other wire to the motor.

When you switch relay 1 on it connects 30 to 87 to make power go to the motor and relay 2 is joining 87a to 30 which earths the other wire.

That is basically it but it would need to be tested at the module to decide what wires are safety switches, see what wires connect to the window lock switch in the centre console.

See how that goes.Am quite happy to help otherwise.
