What size is the tank? (Std.) Mine only ever takes about 55L @ the pump so i'm thinking it will be a 60L.
BTW what do you guys get in the way of fuel figures.... mine is only used for offrading and the occasional trip to work in but i would be intrested to hear what other get in their SD33's

Of the 3 of my patrols (all MQ's) the first 2 are std tanks and
one holds (petrol) 65 lits with 40lits LPG,
another (diesel) holds 72 lits
and the 3rd holds 38 lits petrol(custom made tank)[LPG x 2 tanks 130lits)

As for the fuel ecconomy figures, I've only owned the sd33 for a couple of weeks now but 30 MPG is about the normal so far, that includes city driving aswell as HWY haulin, I tend to use it more often as its heaps cheaper than the V8's even tho they are on gas!!!!!

I'll get the 'owners mannual' out later and see what they say the correct literage is, its not stated in the w/shop mannual !!!

Ive put 68.8 litres in mine and that was at the point of stalling up hills almost. so mines about 70 litres. (SD33). highway driving get me about 7km/litre which is ordinary, when i accelerate like a granny around town i can get about 11km/litre. but in normal keeping up with traffic it does somewhere between 6-8km/litre depending on how far ur foot is on the floor.

Then after what you guys say, i wonder how accurate my gauge is on the dash, casue there's no way i could get 65L into my tank, even on empty

Theres a long rang tank also avail from what ive been told.
But you dont seem to have one of them in yours at the moment.
Check the sender unit inside the tank.

I owned a 81 MQ SD33 and a MK 2.8P and when I did an engine swap from the SD33 to the MK I found that the tanks were exactly the same size 88ltrs. I know this because after draining them for the engine swap I fisrt put in 20 ltrs and then drove to the servo and put in a further 68 ltrs to fill it. Once when travelling around OZ i Put in 74ltrs. Ithink that your fuel sender needs looking at.

In most Diesel Patrols, the guages are calibrated so that on empty you will laways have 20L in the tank, this is a safe guard to prevent "people" from running the car dry. so at empty if your puttin in 55L your around the 75L mark, it also depends on the size of the ding in the bottom of the tank, i know i lost a couple of L's in mine whrn i had it.

I once put 74ltrs in my MQ SWB so I'd do as advised and check your sender unit

Just before I traded mine in, the fuel gauge stopped working, but I used to get 500k's and still only put in 55 to 60 ltrs

The diesel was pretty empty of fuel the other day so I figured it was due for a flushout...... once done it took 80 lits to fill it.

when i first got mine, it was empty on the gauge at about 60 lt, but i decided to test it to find it was 80lts. gauge abit out me thinks. Now i have a 160lt tank and when i hit empty i still have about 60lt as the arm isn't long enough, so i just live with it

When I go shooting and take my mates 80 Diesel % speed with 31's and 4 speed diffs we can usually get from Sydney to Jidabyne on 1 tank but she is a bit dry when we get there - or we make Cooma with bit over a quarter of a tank left - we are usually givin her a hiding too... takes about 65 litres when we leave the Shire.... pretty darn good I recon - my 350 Chev only gets about 130kms off about 80 litres of LPG.... mind you I have my foot flat to the floor all the time - Just can't beat the feeling of destroying little P plating cars at the lights in a truck that is twice the size.... ha ha ah

Back on the subject - all of my patrols have been pretty much the same - had about 20 somethign patrols and some had secondary tanks or long rangers or std's. Purely depends on weight of foot - condition and tuneing of motor etc....
