SOHC 5.4L Injected V8 from 2000 model F truck
comes complete with computer, loom, ancillaries and 4 speed auto (with overdrive)....

Wat would you guys first response be to me thinkin about putting this into my comp rangie (not the tow vehicle).

Might ask sum Qs about this engine aswell.... be nice to know about reliability etc etc.

I have googled, but most links just have a shitload of braggin about the f trucks them selves....
After any info on weight, dimensions and any conversions that may have been done.

Anthony,

I think this is the engine on what the current crop of BA V8 Falcons are based. I'm pretty sure they sourced this engine from F Series pick-ups in the states and tuned, modded it for use in sedans.

G`day Anthony ,

If i was to seriously look at a different brand for a RR , that`s the one i`d look at and have no idea how well they`d fit .

Don`t know what the stroke is but it must be pretty long because they are only a bit over 3.5" bore size and i don`t know but would think because of this may work better than GM + H Stuff down low .

Peter .

The 5.4 SOHC V8 is very similar to our BA 5.4, except our Falcons combine the 5.4 short, with the Mustang 4 valve heads (in the tickfords) or the 3 valve heads in the normal fords.

These engines are commonly refered to as the Modular motor.

i wonder what the weight is? youd think it must be heavier than a gen 3 because of the OHC. Nice looking motor though, especially without the plastic.

I think, (well from the stats I've got here anyway)

Ford Modular V8 DOHC

Width = 28.9 inches (734.1mm)
Length = 27.1 inches (688.3mm)
Height = 29.6 inches (751.8mm)
Weight = 576lbs (262kg)

Compare the weight to an iron Cleveland in original trim, of around 350kg, although you can trim it down to around 300kg with an alloy manifold and alloy waterpump.
