just got my latest copy of the mag, and there is a very interesting article on shimming up the pre-load on your lsd. they even use a 89 paj as the guinee-pig.
question for the forum- i believe the lsd in the later 3.5/2.8td diff is a torsion type lsd. can the same principals be used as for a clutch type lsd ?

I don't think so. I think the "torque transmission" (or whatever it is they call it) in a Torsen is a function of the teeth geometry on the "side gears."

Yep Scott is correct.
BTW the Torsen type lsd came out with the NL onwards.

nl's are the last of the solid rear axle paj's. have the flared guards and 16" rims. 1997 to 2000.

We first received the 2.8 and 3.5 with NJ in late 1993. The 3.0 was dropped late in the NJ run, so the NK (early '97) only had these engines (and larger brakes on the front of the GLS?) The NL arrived here late '97, with the flared guards that the Americans call Gen 2.5. This model received the Torsen LSD.

All the above taken from the Tech thread in this forum. :D

Scott
