I'm adding an oil cooler to keep the chev cooler, so its going to be mounted under this

Looks good but question on where your mounting the oil cooler (under this) - wont this just trap the hot air inside the engine bay??
By the looks of it it will direct the air straight back on the engine..

Yeah going to mount it underneith it, there isn't really any room on the front with aircon which i'm not getting rid of

So i thought i'd give this a shot, it runs pretty cool, just trying to set it up so that i have more cooling capacity then current so that way long hill climbs in middle of summer with air con on full won't bother it a bit.
I have a bodylift so there is room for heat to escape out the back, but its a big motor blocking the way too

Tell ya what thou, even with no oil cooler on it & just the scoop stay's heaps cooler, whilst booting up ferntreegully rd etc..

Will see how it goes once all is in

I know its a different model but since i gave my GQ a body lift the firewall gets that hot that it cannot be touched.Even on a cold day if the engine is under load.
My question is:
Would this work on my GQ to blow air onto the firwall to cool it down?

I was just wondering, what is the oil cooler kit worth and would it cost much to fit.

Raise the back of your bonnet with spacers, easy to do on gq's just need longer bolts & blocks

You will also find the because you lifted the body the fan won't line up with the radiator properly, although this doesn't seem to be an issue with gq's

The cooler i bought was about $290 i think, and then oil filter housing adaptor which i think was $55, i'm going to get some proper hydraulic hose's made up so they can withstand the shit that happens whilst out wheelin

I had already done that.no difference to firewall temp but when i hit water steam come over the windscreen also the fresh air vent was very hot.
I have also tried lifting the front of the bonnet-still no luck

remove body lift see if it goes away.

are the extractors REALLY close to firewall?

lower bonnet & put a scope on then, or either get exhaust wrap to cut down some heat

had same problem on my headers, solved it by getting them coated inside and out

its better to get the extractors hpc or jet hot coated as the wraps hold in the moisture and cause the pipes to rust away!!!

Might be a silly question, but have you tried a bonnet scoop on backwards? I have found in the past that it can help in some situations to do this to allow the hot air to escape, rather than trying to force cool air in.

Even vents may help.

how did you bolt the front of the scoop down where you cut the notches for the bits that hang down???

After cutting the bonnent, did you treat the bare metal with a primer and touch up paint or what ? Does the bonnet scoop overlap the bonnent cutout ?

I reckon your onto something there.. Forcing cool air in is good, but no if it cant go anywhere faster than it comes in.

Ever tried in a hot stuffy house to point your pedastool fan directly out the window. It then sucks more fresh air into the house cooling it down. Rather then just blowing hot air around !!!
