wrangler body lift

Post by dumbdunce »

friend of a friend has been quoted almost $1000 to get a 1" body lift fitted - around $200 for the bits and the rest in labour! is there some magic trick involved in body lifting these things? steering column mods? brake lines?

for a 1" lift it's hardly worth modifying bars to match, is it?

go easy on me I am a toyota bloke :P

cheers

Mate, I put a 2" PA body lift on with the help of a few guys - pretty darn easy...so a 1" would be even easier - hell you could do it by yourself if need be, because you're not worrying about extending the fuel line, etc.

Simply loosen all 11 bolts, undo one side completely, jack it up from that side, slip the blocks in and then new bolts, finger tighen them up, then do the same on the other side. When you're jacking, keep checking clearance with the air-con, brake lines etc, but you should be sweet.

I'd definitely suggest doing it yourself, all you need is a flat driveway/carpark, a jack and a few basic tools (although having airtools really made it easier :D :D ).

Are you doing a motor mount lift at the same time?

Might also be worth headling over to www.ausjeepoffroad.com and checking out the forum...a wealth of information there!

Cheers,

Ben

WTF did he talk to :?: :!:
I paid about $300 for my 2" kit (imported from US)...and fitted it myself (by myself)....it was an absolute breeze ...a 1" is even easier than a 2".....

thanks blokes, I'll let him know.

is it necessary to jack the motor up for a 1" lift? I thought there might just be an issue with fan/shroud clearance, is jacking the motor the easiest solution or can the radiator or just the shrowud be dropped?
