Disco SII had no CDL at all for Model Year 2002 (7/01 - 6/02). You can find out for sure by the Vin below

Any SII disco with the vin SALLITGM932A............. Does not have a CDL at all

1999 models have plastic head dowels.

Anything from July 2002 onwards should be fine (anything with the round rangie style lights)

Hey Maggot, what are plastic head dowels?

6.5 rangie, all I would suggest is that what ever year/model you go for, make sure it has a FSH and make sure you get it serviced regularly and change oils at least every 10,000.....more if you play hard in the bush. Find a good LR machanic who knows what they are doing and stick with them.

who cares if it has the CDL from factory, they are stuff all to convert anyway. buy a low km cheapie - 2000-2001 ish and budget an extra 1000-1500 for bruce davis or someone to chip it and fit a CDL.

Whats the difference between the 00-01 and the later 02 and up models, is there less problems due to the Land Rover ownership ie, British Aero, BMW, Ford. or are they all the same

My old man has had a 99 td5 manual for a few years now, and i dont think anyone else would be tougher testing their car. He has toured around Aus to very remote places without any sign of mechanical failure, the only hickup was that landrover recalled it to change the flywheel. 2003 had an update with different headlights, tail lights and the CDL plus a few minor things. 2001 had different mags, trim and other stuff. Not much goes wrong with them who ever they are made by, unless ofcouse they're neglected.
