Oil Leak between gearbox and transfer case.

Hey guys,
Well its been a couple of months since i had my cralwer gears installed, and my GQ has developed a a oil leak between the transfer and gearbox.
I took it back to the place that installed the gears and they seemed to think it would more than likley be the gearbox leaking than the transfer.
Im just wondering if its easy enough to pull the trasnfer and find which ones leaking and replace seals... Can they even be replaced on vehicle ?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thats funny I just had reduction gears fitted and a week later mine was leaking. I took it back and they charged me $500 to fix the leak that was supposed to be the gasket between the auto and the transmission. Now a month later its leaking again.
What makes matters worse is I drove 200km to this place thinking that they new what there doing.
Cheers Mick.

did you get this fixed? Mine's leaking now too, from the slot at the bottom. So I am assuming the seal between transfer and gearbox.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I am assuming it is the front transfer case seal as I swapped transfer cases a few weeks ago to get one with reduction gears and there was no leak before. Can you change the seal without splitting the case, like a pinion seal (which also needs replacing

)? I know either way I'll have to take the transfer case off again.
It's funny that a few people have had oil leaks start just after they had reduction gears fitted. The case I have has only been in low range half a dozen times before I bought it. I know where they were fitted too and I would have expected better from this place to be honest. Can anyone who fits them shed any light as to why it is so prevalent?

im taking a guess at ur blowing these seals due to excess pressure build up due to the higher gearing to slow your car down more.

When doing one of these conversions, are the seals being replaced?
Seals hate to be disturbed once they have settled in.
Anything I repair or rebuild gets new seals. I don’t need an I-rate (and I can’t blame them) client on the phone.

The people that did mine said the seals and bearings were replaced. Whether that happened or not is another question.

As I said, I would've expected better from them as they are a well known prominent 4wd store that was heavily involved in competing.
