Going to mount a GQ radiator (got it for free) on the tray of my hilux and it has the auto lines etc on it. What do you think of running the power steering via the radiator to help cool the P/S fluid.

Well the fluids are the same... so in terms of compatibility with the radiator it is fine...

But due to runnning it to your tray... the power steering pump may not be up to the task... If you were concerned you could rig up a small cooler on the front ..

You also have to decide whether to run from the outlet of the pump or use the return feed to be cooled... these use different spec hoses, with the outlet pressures reaching as high as 1200psi, and the return feed only up to 50psi.... The latter would be good to use.. so you dont blow anything

If the rad isnt new... you can also have problems with the power steering fluid going into the radiator fluid and vice versa, if there is a crack or other flaw between the two cooling sections.

They dont cool very efficiently anyway.. people who tow or need to cool thier auto transmission fluid always use an external cooler and not the radiator one.

I was thinking of doing this to the zuggy but though that the radiator was so far away (mounted in rear) that it might actually heat the fluid up more than cool it because the pump would be under load all the time trying to pump the fluid such a long way?? so i just brought a $70 trany cooler and mounted it up front.

All hydraulic cooler are mounted in the return lines, all Hyd filters are mounted in the return lines aswell. If u plum the radiator cooler into the pressure side it should last about....hmmm..... 3 seconds.
