IROKS

Ive notiched alot of people running these IROKS...
Are they worth giving them a try...? im about to lay down the cash for a set of 38" TSL/SX (with sidewall tread)
should i give the IROKS a go...?
pretty much jus wanna rock crawl...

Wha do u drive like? flat out or crawl? what engine are u running? Big HP?
From what i have read the irocks will wear out quickly and cut up under lots of wheel spin or big Hp. The sx are bulit proof.
There is a thread on pirate at the moment and alot of them seem to think the only tyre better for rock than the irock is the red lable crawler, beats everthing else hands down.

Its a standard 2.8D in a lux.
Pretty much jus for rockcrawling i havent got the power to turn 38's in mud not real interested in that anyway.
Whats these red labels(...???) ur talkin about and where can i get more info on them?

Don't think Red label Krawlers are not available for general public. Not really even in aus. Only one set floating round in aus and they paid big bucks for them.

Red label are very rare $$ tyre they are same as the blue label crawler just alot softer, and only available to teams sponsored by BFG ??
If u are after a rock crawling tyre that wont be daily driven then apparently u cant go past the bias irock. I havent heard of any one damaging a bias irock. The irock will wear quicker than the sx because they are soft, but that is what gives them there traction. They are also probably half the weight of the sx, Irocks are know for being soft, flexible and light.

Mate for rockcrawling i dont think you can go past the mickey thompson comp spec claw soft as and holly crap do they grip.
But just take a look at any werock buggy some are sponsored yes but more than half run them as they are the best. I had a set of 39.5 swampers on mine for one round and seen how the comp claws went and decided thats it i want them. That was PUOSU at rover park and all the vehicles with claws ate up the rocks better than IROKS and it was pissn down rain. This weekend at the 4b show on the man made coarse is the first run out on them on my buggy and there everything plus more then what i expected.
And i paid full price and are over the moon with them.

so how come a rig with iroks won the event then???
because the rigs with claws were too busy eating the rocks and not driving them

The mog has ran swampers since day dot me thinks and is still running the same TSL's, I think the weight factor has alot to do with it. Buggies are too light for them to be really effective maybe
The TSL's all seemed to do fine on most of the previous buggies to date from Haultech until Sam striked up M/T.

Compared to most other tyres of this type the Irok's are not Soft. Neither are Red Label Krawlers.

like ruff said, i don't think they're any softer than other tyres. they are lighter than the rest of the swamper family of tyres. work awesome in the rocks. might consider selling my set but only to upgrade to a newer set of the same tyres.

ive run 37 iroks for a few months now (only a few times) and find them grippy as hell on the rocks. i run them on a sort of sierra weighing around 1.5 ton(guess) and they bag up great.
i have found they are not too good (grippy) on the dirt (hard to medium) but are great in the mud and very soft dirt.
overall ive ran claws and tsl for the 9 years of owning the mud4b and i would pick the iroks anyday over the mentioned tyres above.

The MT are a very soft tyre but as the 37 sticky only measures 35 that is there limiting factor i have run IROKS on my last 2 rigs and will be sticking with them one thing i will add though is they need to be thrashed before they really start working brand new they aren't that special

would anyone recomend iroks for mud driving and comps like ateco, seem to have lots of gap between tread so on a car with horses should clean and bite very well.

Im wanting to get a set of 39.5x13.5x15 irok's, but what i hear is that if you road them they wear out that quick its not funny, Is that true
If it is, this will be the only reason i wont buy the. I dont want to tralier my rig from penrith to appin and menni just for day trips.

As a little bit of an aside, I have run Swampers (Q78's) and SX's (36 12.5) and the SX's are not as strong as I imagined them to be. I have trashed one sidewall nad variously torn/cut them up more than I though I would.
They are stupidly heavy.
They do run quite nicely on the road - quite stable and round.
They are pretty stiff. My car is over 2500kg and mine will bag pretty well at around 8-10psi.
Just my 0.2c worth.

MC4x4 on the list has a set of 5 38 x 14.5SX's that have only done 200km for sale in Melbourne.
