Km's VS. Different Octane Levels

Post by HotAe92 »

Hey all,

i ran my car on unleaded (92 Octane) this week, as i usually run it on premium (95+). I found i got better milage out of the regular unleaded than i do premium, is there an explanation for this?

Cheers

Ive noticed no real different in km's when running standard and premium unleaded. I do notice a smoother power delivery in take off and a smoother idle and thats about it. Ive been told by many mechanics that it is better to run the premium regardless of extra kms.

Running on premium will give you that estra buffer between detonation, and if you want you can up the timing advance slightly to get a bit more response (and like 1 extra KW  ) out of the donk. As for economy, i faound not much difference with the different fuels, but still prefer to run on premium so i can keep the timing advanced a bit.
