This part of the front of my roza... was in a repaired front end, but this part looks like junk. its the metal strip above the bumper, but below the grill. Illustrated in this yellow square thing i did in paint. If i can get one from a wreckers, all is well... but i need to know what its called. :)

The part is called a 'Front Balance Panel'.

The genuine part number is : 53911-87613-000. ;)

Just call it the bit between the grille, under the headlights but above the bumper bar .. lol

wreckers = cheaper but may not be in 100% condition

genuine = big $$$$ but in perfect condition

best to ring a few wreckers to get a rough price and then get the price of genuin

and see which is cheaper

wreckers would probally be best place should be able to pick on up in the same colour and all

Is it coloured? If so that will be the biggest challenge as the genuine will only be primed.

Any decent paint shop can colour match it for you.

A lot of Roza owners look for this panel as it tends to rust out quite frequently... for this reason you may have to go genuine.. used ones may be in bad condition also.

I've just replaced that very same part on mine. Here it's called a valence panel. I had to go genuine from a dealer and it cost me (including UK VAT) £95 sterling, that's about $230 AUD I think. No idea how much it would be in Oz, likely to be cheaper as everything car related is a f**king rip off in the UK! :bad-words:

You might be lucky finding a good one at a breaker but I would think most would show some level of rot - it's a common area for rust.

It's an easy diy paint job if you feel like doing it, I did mine in 3 days allowing for drying times. Basically prime it, rub down smooth, basecoat (I found a close match Toyota paint) and clearcoat laquer for protection.

Hope this helps.

Jon.

Hmm. Sounds harsh. After getting a DEBT RECOVERY letter for a $225 speeding fine i never recieved... things are looking a little iffy.
But that aside... does the panel count as "structural"? I dont think it would, as its just a piece of metal basically on the outside, but if i were to just bolt on some checkerplate right into where it was, dont want to run the risk of some one thinking its not roadworth becuase of it... although checkerplate would look alot safer than it does now. It's just mangled metal :p
