thinkin bout doin a conversion in the future to replace the 3f in my 60 series, lookin at the 1uzfe because of price and availability, lot cheaper than a holden/chev v8
wondering if anyone has attempted this conversion!

ill start the fun with
"SEARCH"
now that ive covered that for you from everyone, it appears from a previous thread that was around a couple of weeks/months ago that they are too small for an 80 series so might be the same for the 60.
i like the idea as 6 bolt mains and 700 HP heads as standard appeal to me in the build it up frame of mind i have. strongest motor from a factory ever produced, including forged pistons and rods. try it out and if it doesnt work add a blower, still not good enough add a bigger one.

i wouldn't say that its the strongest motor ever from a factory but it would right up there, the 350 chev conversions are fairly cheap and there is alot of mods avaliable for them, cams for a 1uz will cost at least 2grand plus labour ($500eachx4)

When I was swapping in my new motor after my original 1UZ did a headgasket I borrowed a mates 40 series which has 3F 60 series motor. The 3F deffinetly felt like it had heaps more torque down low than than my 1UZ....but no where near as good top end....
Not sure how much heavier a 60 series is over a 4runner, but the 4runner gets along really well with the 1UZ, so I guess a 60 series would still be fun with one...it'd atleast sound awesome!! but you might need to add a supercharger or turbo down the track to get some real performance out of it.
One other thing is the 60 series would have to have heaps more room to fit some nice extractors (not much room in the 4runner), which get good performance gains on the 1UZ.

I have put 1UZ-FE's in patrols, they worked well in them.
With a single 3" exhaust they sound like a V8 supercar

1UZ's have a lot of power, but they are a revvy motor. If you want a fast 1UZ 4WD either ring the motors neck, or reduce the final drive right down to take advantage of the peaky motor.
