forgive me for my ignorance over the next few weeks, Just got my first rover...

It's got a the 4.4 ltr leyland motor in it (stroked to 4.7ish) with electronic ignition (I assume it std leyland gear but honestly I have no idea), the coil, cap and rotor button need to replaced.

are the std repco button and cap the only way to go or are there better options? and does anyone know if good Bosch coil will burn out the old ignition module?

I've ran a couple of searches but couldnt come up with any answers, sorry for the long winded post.

Cheers
Simon

It's probably likely that is got rover heads on it.
From what i've gathered -
Count the number of head bolts (Rover - 14, P76 - 10)
If rover heads, than the dizzy will be a Rover one.

This may help finding parts. Rover stuff is more easily come by than P76

Coil :? May need a ballist resistor but i have no idea.
My bosch electronic ignition doesnt have one with a bosch coil, but my parts car came with a Lumunintion Electronic ignition / bosch coil witha ballist resistor :?

Hope this helps.

Try and keep with genuine or oe parts as a lot have problems with after market caps and rotors.

Cheers. exactly what i was after loanrangie!

the existing cap has a lil play in it and as a result the rotor button is fried. so i dunno if its cause the dizzy is missing the rubber seal or if its cause its the wrong cap.

no ballast needed its a full electronic system.
