stronger 1hz gearbox and t case options

Post by bad_religion_au »

mate of mine has a turbo'd 1hz in a hzj75, and he's going through gearboxes pretty cronically... is the 60 series 5 speed (h55f) stronger? any chance they'll bolt up?

Only turbo diesel 78/79s and FZJ75s have the H150f. All diesel 75 series have the H55f. After the change to the 78/79 series, the 1HZ gets the R151f from the Hilux line. Whether the R151f is stronger than the H55f is an arguable fact.

For a stronger gearbox, the H150f from a 78/79 is the go.

Best box for him to get into his truck is the h150 from behind a 1hz in the 80 series after 1993....i say that because synchros were all sorted after that date, but he will need to do some crossmember mods and tailshaft mods to fit it in....
Good side is his old bellhousing is sort after for the 1hdt in the 60 series mod.
