Years ago i had a FJ40 with a 350 chev runing a Q-jet carb.
i bought a ford motorcraft v8 air cleaner surround from the wreakers. (XB,XC,XD era)
removed the original air snout and blanked it off with pop riverts silicon and sheet metal. then i put 2, 3inch hole saw holes in it.
Then had an exhaust mob mig in 2 x 100mm lengths of 3 inch pipe.
then plumbed my twin snorkels into it with 3 inch hose.
then able to use any v8 sports air cleaner element.

Cheers Grant.

I have had this system in my Nissan for years with a 308 fitted, it gave me no trouble. I used a Ford filter and welded 3” tubing into it, with a flexi pipe from the snorkel.

I run my snorkels into opposite sides of a custom stainless box. Box is round to mount on top of gas mixer and take standard air cleaner. 3 inch inlets are offset on opposite sides so that air is forced to spin around air cleaner as it enters on a tangent.
Works perfectly!

"mk swb" if you go to most sheet metal places they should be able to make one up you may have to give them the carby or make a template up of the holes etc etc
ide go alluminium or stainless
im thinking of making similiar at work
all i have is one of them filters kinda like a pod style but its square i wouldnt like to go neer any water in its current state

cheers

"mk swb" a frend fabbed it for me it is a box with a hole cut in the bottom the size of the carby and a lid that clips down on the four sides with a neoprene/rubber seal like on a quality esky lid to make it air tight. The snorkel enteries are just pieces of 3" exuastpipe welded into the sides. It works fine even in deep water.

thanks
