22r 2.4L Petrol engine and I just tried to kick it over to duck home for lunch and the starter seems to be gone. Just wanting some advice on what I should check before i pull it off the engine and have it re-worked.

I have cleaned terminals and checked all the leads, but dont know if there are any other little gremlins that other hilux drivers know about?

Also if it does need to be fixed what sort of $$$ am I looking at and does anyone have a recommendation for a good (read as cheap) auto lec in brisbane?

The contacts are a common problem on this model. been there fixed that, and no amount of massaging with a hammer could get it to fire.

If it goes clunk when you hit it, you didnt miss :)))
Go aftermarket for the contact, as yota want $50 for the contact with its bolt and washers, etc etc you can reuse them all and just get the contact aftermarket for $8
These live under that funny tim flat plate on the side of the larger cylindrical motor...3 small screws reveals it all....the contact is on the other side of the power lead....
You will only need one contact, one will be as new.
