guys,
just working out some info for my new rig......
if i run mog diffs under a truck, do i need any sort of transfer case reduction or can i just run any transfer and not put gearing in it?
prob thinking of tyres around the 44" mark?
cheers

The ratios are 7.56, so what is your final ratio with the tcase u have? manual or auto? U would have to have a crap manual gear box ratio and tcase to become a prob, but with a auto and any t case u should be
What engine u got? pleanty of torque down low?

no it isnt really needed
but if its a slight ratio change , it'd still work
the bush rangie u woulda seen at tuff truck has transfer gears. it isnt really required , but certainly can work a treat
altho events like tuff truck etc , its not really used. out playing , its aswome , alot of control.

id be running a 350 chev with a turbo 700 and a standard divorsed nissan transfer case ( 2.1:1 low ) and mog diffs on 44's....
i want to use this combination as with the divorsed transfer its very very easy to put together and make neat with good shaft angles.... i cannot run crawler gears in this transfer however......
so
if i need to run gearing i will re think the transfer.... put otherwise id be very keen to keep it as i have said above, also because i have the bits just need the diffs.....

With the v8 and auto I would think it would be pleanty slow enough.
With a divorsed case u are going to run out of rear tail shaft very quickly. The mog pinions are 20" from the flange to the center of the diff.

What wheelbase are you looking for Jeff, as this is going to be important to your shaft angles if you want to run the divorced t-case and the mogs.
Layto....

Yes, something like 2.06. The 7.56:1 shane quoted above is the combined diff and portal reduction.

Compared to the Nissan GQ Norm you're about 94% lower than stock GQ ratios - 44"s are only 37% oversize to stock 7.50R16 gearing.
AND you have a 350 CHEV and the torque converter effect off the Auto.
No problems mate.

Correct me if I'm wrong but here goes: Mogs 404. Centres:3.54:1, Hubs: 2.13:1. Total = 7.54:1 Sam would be able to tell you exactly but I think his rover was running about a 6.7:1 first gear with 2:1 low range. Ends up at 100:1. Don't know if all 404's have the same ratios.

ok sweet guys.....
sounds good.
i am aware of rear shaft lengths being compromised.
this isnt a concern at the moment, its more whether i can get away with doing this or not..... would be fantastic for driveshaft locations...... but yeh ill end up at about 114 to 118 wheelbase id imagine, but with no over hangs front and rear and a flat belly i should be ok with 44s....
will have to see how we go.
cheers
