Hey guys,
I recently bought a hj61. I am planning to overhaul the suspension and I was wondering what is considered a good spring brand these days- I chased around for some OME gear but apparently nobody does it anymore (is that correct?) Someone mentioned earlier on this forum that OME are cheaper now that they have ‘Enforcer’ springs-what does that mean exactly? I want around 40 or 50mm higher than the original ride height. What about king springs? Ironman?
Any suggestions? what sort of prices am i looking at?
Cheers

varies alot depending on the spring you are after. Cheap = cheap quality and ride and wont last as long

I work for ARB Coopers Plains (used to be southside) i have an HJ61 (89 Sahara) i did a complete overhaul last weekend, anti inverting greasable shackles, leaves, shocks, steering damper, etc etc, estimated lift on the springs was 3" in the rear 2" in the front (above standard height), over all it lifted mine 4.5" in the rear and 2.5" in the front, rides, handles and flexes much better, am very happy!
If you want me to send some b4 and after pics just pm me, im goin away for easter be back tues!
Take it easy
happy Easter to all

I got some OME's on my '84 HJ60, I am very happy with them too. The way I understood it the OME Dakars are the same as the OME's but made in Malaysia or made with Malaysian steel, rather than Australian BHP steel.
And half the price of the original OME's. I ordered the Dakars but recieved the Aussie ones (woooooop!).

i also have a hj61 and 2 years ago i bought a enforcer heavy duty towing kit through a friend who had just sold his spring/blacksmith shop and i paid $760 picked it up from carrol springs in syd with leaves shocks bolts n bushes also made 1" longer hangers and 2"body lift and hangers are still in a near plumb/vertical position indicating low saging after 2 years and draging a caravan to cairns. i ve got nothing bad to say about em.

ome is good as well as there dakar's but think of what you want out of it and what is its purpose
ie weekend warrior , tourer, rock crawler etc
and also if the car is bog stock are you intending on kitting it out with bars side rails dual battery's winch wheel carriers
as it helps ome get the right set up you want ,also like all spring packs you can add more or less just depends on your requirement
ome is dear but you get what you pay for like most things these days
and don't go getting the springs reset as in 6 months you will be back to were your at now
altho someone will get on now n say they have never had a prob with reset springs
