Disco diffs in a Rangie

My rear diff in my '89 Rangie is about to die, so im looking at puting another diff in.
Can i put a 24 spline diff from a series 1 disco in? Will it just bolt in or do i have to fabricate anything?
Also is it worth spending the extra money on a 24 over a 10 spline? I would like to put in an air locker in the future and i run 32" muds. Will the 24 spline be ok?

Thanks

Hi

we put 24 spline into the back of the Disc S 1 replacing the 10 spilne, and with locker, which strengthens the diff by getting rid of the weak sun gears etc, it has proven OK so far. I understand that the D1 and RR diffs are almost identical, each using the same weak 10 spline, and as I know, later model D1 and early D2 axles will fit the D1 (and presumably) RR housings. 24 spline axles are definetely stronger that 10 spline.

Swap the flange on the disco diff for the rangie one and it will fit. (Or get a disco rear tailshaft with a rubber doughnut. ) + 24 spline rear disco axles and its converted.

Make me an offer on the above stuff if you need it. What ever a wrecker wants, half it and its yours.
