If anyone has pin to eye adaptors on the vehicle, could you please tell me what thickness steel is used.

The local 4WD shop was getting a set in for me from BBM and guaranteed they would be here by today....but they are not, so I will have to make my own tomorrow

I would just use 6mm strap, bend and drill 3 holes.

I was thinking of using 6mm but I was not sure if it was strong enough. In the pic on the BBM website it looks like 8mm.

I was interested as well.
8mm sounds more reassuring?

Well I only have some 6mm plate laying around at the moment so that will have to do for now, as I have to have it ready for a trip on Saturday.

I will then make a proper pair using a thicker guage next week. I will have to make it again anyway as I should use high tensile bolts but I am only going to be able to get the normal ones at Bunnings tomorrow.

I will be at work tomorrow, if you are in trouble give me a call.

Sure we can find something we can use

Thanks.

What are you doing working on Easter Friday Greg.

Do you think 6mm will be too small/thin?

That looks like 6mm. I guess it depends what sort of steel it is also. I have no idea what sort of stresses are on the shock mount.

Another question while I am on this subject. In that photo the pin that goes through the eye looks like it is only about 12mm (1/2inch) but the hole in the eye of the shock I have is 18mm. I was just going to buy a 5/8 bolt. How doe it work with the BBM kit? Are you meant to sleeve inside the eye or use a different bush?

Piccie shows a Rovertym adaptor, said "hd cold rolled steel "...?

Just drill a 18mm then and buy the suitable bolt.
Are the bush supposed to be sleeved?
(I think not..?)

P.S.
What does BBM stand for?

why not just go to autobarn or supercheap and buy trailer spring mount brackets.. they ar only a couple of bucks and some hightensile bolts to suite... they are folded and drilled all you have to do is drill 1 hole in the end for the pin / high tensile bolt and away you go.....EASY and best of all CCHHEEAAPP...

Thanks everyone. I made up the brackets last Friday. I found some 8mm plate lying around the shed which was perfect.
