my 5th gear synchro's gone on my TB42e GQ. I've taken the ext housing off the back opf the gearbox. can the rear gear be pulled off with a puller? if i do this can i then remove and replace the synchro ring or is there more to it than that?
i dont want to remove the whole 5th gear counter shaft. can it be done?
thanks

Have another think about it, cos i believe you might be wrong there.
My understanding is that you remove extension housing, remove 5th gear counter shaft, remove input shaft(main shaft), remove top cover, and then remove guts of box, ie main shaft containing 1st-4th + rev.
therefore, 5th gear comes out first.
so, back to my question. can the pressed-on little cog on the countershaft be pulled off safely using a puller?
can the synchro ring then be removed off the counter shaft or is it locked locked into the dog gear(don't know what its called) which the selector fork is attached to?
I should have taken a photo of it when i had the bloody thing apart, DOH!
