Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Did a search (briefly) and couldn't find a "How to" to do a fuel tank lift.
Is it easily done or would I be better off getting a tank custom made?

Yes I can weld, sort of, so if I have to cut and shut mounts thats OK. I would prfer to make it reservable though.

I have a 2" BL so I should be good for about 2 1/2" - 3" is this right?

Only problem i have looked at is where the fuel filler neck is located as it is under the chassis rail std.

If u managed to lift it 3" maybe there might be room to run a tight 90 bend down and then between the body and chassis.

Not a bad idea, as Nic suggested the filler is a problem. With a 2" body lift I reckon you'd be able to get it high enough to squeeze between the body & chassis rail.

Mounts would definitly need cutting & shutting, and that wouldn't be easily reversed. The only reason you would need to is if you were taking out your body lift though.

I replaced the sierra tank with a Vitara tank. The vitara tank has a filler hose that comes out of the top of the tank and was easy to guide the filler hose between the body and chassis rails.

Bentzook, which Vit tank did you use ??

Bentzook, that looks like the way to go. Which tank have you used and how far below the chassis does it hang. The reason for the lift is protection and if the Vit tank hangs down lower it's of no benefit. Other then that I was thinking about buying another Sierra tank and moving the filler.

I want to keep the mods I do as reversable as I can for when I sell the vehicle, to try and maximise return and make getting the safety cert easy. Not that i intend to sell any time soon.

get a bash gaurd. Even if you lift it, there will always be a rock that can reach it.

Did you have to reroute the exhaust? I'm sure the Vit tank I have is longer than the Sierra tank, and figured you'd have to do something with the exhaust to fit it in.

Its a 55ltr LWB ,efi Vitara tank. The tank mounts have been changed and there`s no room either side for the exhaust. The exhaust will have to be exiting from the side. The tank has been raised 3" with room gained from the bodi-lift.
