5th gear synchro -- GQ Patrol

5th gear synchro's gone on GQ . ive taken off the extension housing off the back of gearbox to reveal input shaft and counter shaft.
There's a gear which is pressed onto the spline of counter shaft and then 5th gear synchro ring, then 5th gear and selector fork.
What I want to know is can I just pull gear and synchro off with puller and replace without having to remove entire counter shaft from back of box?
Fourby is used 90% offroad so 5th is not important, besides I can still double clutch to engage it with no crunching.
But if its easy enough to fix, for a $90 synchro(genuine nissan) I might as well replace it.
THANKS, Glenn !!!!!!
