Winch size Q's

Well after much hagglin me boss has finally offered me a winch off the front of 1 of the work vehicles ( ex coppa rodeo)...............

Now its only a warn m8000lb im gettin it for nuthin is it gunna be of any assistance on the front of my shorty mav ie... would ya bother fittin it up or for its size will it be a waste of time .............

I wont be enterin any comps (or atleast as im aware Yet)

Surely it gotta be betta than not havin 1 at all :roll:

And it will only get used as a last resort .......or emergency!!!ie roll over

Get it anyway, especially if its free. If it doesn't do the job, sell it and put the cash toward a bigger winch ;)

If you are worried about its pulling power, you could always use a snatch block. Sure they are slower, but they do the job.

Yeah either way i was gettin it ...........its amazin how a boss can change his mind wen ya put in a 20+ shift to get a job ready 4 2day that could could get him big $$$$$ AND YES IM GETTIN PAID 4 IT ASWELL AS THE WINCH :D

I was just after other peoples opinions on this subject ............maybe some have first hand experience with havin this size winch on there rig

my highmount is only 8000 and i've only needed to do a double line pull once when it was sitting high and dry on the rocks at the last ASCC.

Im also luky enough that this truck cleaned up a big roo recently which fuked the front end = the winch now sports a complete , new solenoid box :D

Since yours is a shorty, I dont see why it wouldnt be good enough, specially for the price... So now many you gettin to sell for yarders? ;)

it will be worth mounting!! i have had my highmount for about 9 months and have only used it once when i was out wheeling by myself!! it is much easier to just connect a snatch strap to another truck than get out and set up the winch!!

plus you know that you can go out 4x4ing by yourself and have the piece of mind that a winch is sitting on the front of your truck.
