My 88 shorty with std carby petrol/gas motor is pissen me off.
The motor is running on when you give it a rev. It takes 30sec. to return to an idle. It drops to 1200rpm quickly then takes ages to slow to an idle. This it very anoying in the bush, no engine braking at all. Any ideas will keep my hair on me head

check the fast idle cam at the back of the carby, this can get sticky, just get some spray lube, put the long nozzle on it and lube up anything that looks like it should move, linkages, cams etc etc. Otherwise it may be the same as mine is currently and the butterflies themselves are getting sticky, and as far as i know, that means carby rebuild.

I fixed the f*#ken thing. It was the fuel cut off soloniod and i had a spare carby so I pulled the carby off the car for the 1000th time , swapped them over and it was perfect. It was cutting it fine tho. We are off to Licola and beyond tomorrow
