Water Xings

After reading the NEWBIE Owner thread I thought I would start a new one ,

Question -: What the deepest River X-ing , water hole etc you've taken your Big-Rig through ???

Pic's , If it's good reading , tell a few porkies

The deepest I've taken our big-rig was when water was lapping at the windscreen on a slowish flowing river in Dwellingup ( Perth ) had no leakage or electrical probs , I still can't believe we actually made it across . Don't have any pic's of that day . I don't want to spoil the karma but our big-rig goes well through water even though it does sound like it has a 2 stroke outboard moter when the exhaust is under water

I've had it to just below the mirrors doing a crossing north of Sydney. No photos as I was doing the trip myself  Was happy to get through it, was worried there for a minute or two ;)

I've had water coming up over the bonnet and up the windscreen...... but only because I was going a wee bit too quick through the creek! I didn't want to get stuck halfway with my road tyres.

(It didn't look anywhere near that deep when the vehicle in front of me went through. )

I've had the water just lapping over the bottom of the rims... :D :D :D

Can't say I've done many water crossings myself... but didn't those without a snorkel have problems with water going into the air intake?????

Curious.... :?: :?: :?:

AS what was being talked about in the other thread (Rampods) the intake is well concealed behind the passenger side headlight. The opening there allows minimal water splash from the fan, and by placing a 'blind' over the front and driving through the water to create a 'bow wave' it is all very possible to attack depths over 1m :D

again.. what is a blind? the deepest i've had was when i had water lapping halfway up my door.... then i got stuck.. :bad-words: :bad-words: of course.. water started leaking in to the cab.. slowly. thank god i wasnt stuck long... lol.. had a friend that pulled me out. a full sized bronco... then he tried an he got even more stuck than i did... i pulled him out an he suffered body damage   :finger:

A piece of tarpaulin placed over the front end and secured so as not to fall off.
This prevents water from being pushed into the engine bay, via the radiator by pushing the water away

Similar concept for you would be a 'Snow Plough'

Sorry I should have explained that the pic was taken after we snatched him out , he was deep up to his door handles . You may notice the water coming out of the door and the snatch still attached
