Ideas on removing a stuck diff drain nut

any ideas on how to remove a stuck diff drain nut. the nut i have is a 3/8th square hole. the square hole is now damaged.

Try heating it with a welder or similar device, it may loosen it up a bit. New genuine ones are only a few buck by the way...

go buy a new one first,then get a cheisel and hammer and hit it around the way it undoes

If you got access to a welder, you could just weld a bit of scrap metal to it and open.

Try the hammer and chisel method first, that usually works. If not then weld an old bolt to the sump plug, and use a spanner on the bolt head. Dont weld on a nut, use a bolt. For some reason a bolt works a hell of a lot better. Either way its sure to come off.

Clean up plug surface, grab a clean spare wheel nut, and weld the bastard onto the plug. Instant problem solved. (if you have welder there )

If u cant get it off with a cold chisel try welding a 12mm grade 8 bolt to it, if that dosent work u will have to drill it out.
