Modded Daihatsu Rocky in action

Post by soonseng »

I would like to share a video of Modded Daihatsu Rocky doing some hardcore offroading. From what i know, this car fitted with 1JZ engine and with rear and front Volvo Axle.

Nice truck. ;)

Are those Volvo C303 Portal axles?
What engine is that? The numbers mean nothing to me? Sounds nice. If I had to guess, is it a Supra motor?

1JZGTE is a Straight 6, 2.5L Twin Cam, Twin Turbo, 24 Valve found in old JZA70 Supra's and Chasers and also Soarers.
It has around 208kw in stock form. It's a common swap for a whole heap of cars, due to its great power and aftermarket bits and peices available.
Another common swap is the 2JZ. :D

The motor sounds awesome in that vid  Turbo spool sounds mad!

I guessed right then. ;)

Does the supra motor bolt up to one of the standard Daihatsu boxes then?Something like the one used with the 1800cc petrol motor?

I really need a set of portals in my life.

Well in Malaysia, i dont think its illegal because the current Rocky's engine is 1800cc and 1JZ is 2500cc so the inspection department for vehicle might not approve this car unless its only for track use.

For the modification part, i think they need to redo the engine mounting and also fit it a different type of gear box. I havent really see a real Rocky with 1JZ with my own eye. Once i see it i will post up the details again.

Soon seng,
so u drive a Rocky yourself?
Cool another chap from Malaysia.

u guys from down under should no fret about your Rockys.
Most of the monster Rocky's run portals back home.
Gearbox, most jokers just run the LJ70 gearbox. Aka Bundera....

All the Rainforest challenge cars run Bundera running gears and 7mGTE or 1JZs.
My RIG sucks big time.
