Quick steering box question

Hey guys. I've searched but to no avail.

My steering box has a lot of play in it. Definately the box as I've checked. You can spin the shaft coming from the steering wheel and nothing happens on the other end of the box up to a certain point. Combined with what I believe to be either misaligned wheels or screwed swivel hubs needing a rebuild, my car sucks to drive to the point that it gets scary

Can anyone tell me if the different Sierra models have different steering boxes? I'm wanting to replace it and if I can get one for cheap (under $100) and whack it on myself that would be great. I have access to a NT steering box. Mine is a 1996 coily.

Cheers, Drew.

It is possible to adjust the preload on the box to take up small amounts of slack, but this only works if the box is in good condition.

Well it is relatively new being a 96 but I think it had a rough life. Probably taken several hard hits at high speed judging by the previous two owners use of the car (occasional racing).
