HELP! Pitman Arm Removal

I have a stubborn pitman arm on my Rodeo it refuses to budge with the usual methods of removal.

If I try to separate it from the steering arm 1st. it will destroy the rubber seal on it and these joints are not replaceable, I'd have to get a new steering arm.

So I've tried to separate the pitman arm from the bottom shaft of the steering box with a hydraulic puller AND a mechanical one using the rattle gun but the jaws start to spread and want to slip off.

Is there a trick to it apart from bashing it with a hammer?

cheers

Tough bastards arn't they.
Try giving it some heat from an oxy being careful not to burn the rubber boots. Aslight tap with a hammer and dramas should be over.
Good luck.

give the tierod end a firm belt to the side of the hole (with a piece of steel at the other side to prevent the box from copping undue knocks.. 1 or 2 will do it. it works like squeezing a bananna in yhe cartoons
