Early chevs had a factory mod which was a short wire strop between the left top A arm and the left exh manifold to prevent the engine tearing the mount by torquing too far.
The Chev Patrols I have done break their L/H mount so I built a steel strap to go arround the mount and prevent too much stretch. Look at ways to tie the engine down, it's usually only the L/H side.

was going to just weld a fish plate and chain link onto chassi and use a chain to the enginemonut bracket on the block?? this would be ok wouldnt it?? i cant see a problem. not a daily driver. pure offroad dirty hardcore fun XXX !!

want in one hand, crap in the other..... see which one gets full first.
I wouldnt solid mount a Rover Motor. They only have 3 bolts going into the block. 2 X 7/16th bolts and one 5/16bolt. The 5/16th bolt will pull clean out of the block in no time. Use a rubber mount again and fit a chain if you have too. 2 years out of an engine mount in a hilux that does a lot of offroad work isnt too bad.
engine mounts
run a decent size chain either over the mount or from the block to the chassis it will stop the engine ripping up to high
I was getting so much flex in my engine mounts on my GQ patrol auto caused by the 85% reduction gears that my fan had rubbed threw the fan shroud.
My solution was to chain the engine mounts down but not tight so it can still move.
It's been like it for around 3 months now and has done plenty of hard off road work and the fan hasn't touched the shroud since.
Cheers Mick.

I was considering doing that to the Pootrol with the V8 in it..... any history of the Holden V8 ripping mounts?Mick. wrote:I was getting so much flex in my engine mounts on my GQ patrol auto caused by the 85% reduction gears that my fan had rubbed threw the fan shroud. My solution was to chain the engine mounts down but not tight so it can still move.

There is no "I" in Team, but there are 5 in Individual Brilliance
use gen 3 rubber mounts they are massive and cheap as too. i obviously used them in mine. they are 4" ronnd at least 3 "tall and have 1 bolt top and bottom

Havent heard of the V8 ones breaking but my 6cyl. HK ripped one while I was doing a ******* and the accelerator linkage jammed at full revs so I had to shut it off at the ignition key or I would have had no rear treads left!
That was when I was young and silly though
