Pros and Cons of......

Installing a dual battery system in my truck in the next week or so. But I am wanting to keep the front end as light as possible. So would it be avisable to mount one of the batteries in the cab. I just bought 2 new batteries....one kick battery and one deep cycle battery (both are sealed units).

So if I was to fit one of the batteries in the cab....which one would be best?

If I mount the axillary battery in cab....would I lose too much power in the winch having such a long power cable?

i have an 02 dual cab and have the 2nd batt in the tray.. i can honestly say i havent noticed a big difference in the winch after moving the ball to the tray.. use large 245amp cable.. and good connectors. and make sure your earth is really good.. just as reference i'm using a warn 9500lb winch.. still gets me everywhere..

If your concerned about the weight put the deep cycle battery in the back.

A good way to be sure not to loose those amps is to run two cables instead of one.

dont put it in the cab as they have a chance of exploding....... mines under the tray and it works beautifully

NO WAY.DONT DO IT. Never put a battery inside the cab. batteries can explode. some types of batteries emit fumes. Loose bit & pieces in the cab can cause a short circuit. although sealed units won't have the fume problem i still wouldn't do it.
